Christmas Morning Devotional
Mark 10:14 – “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.”
This Christmas morning, as you gather with your family, consider the beauty of the kids’ table. It may be smaller, louder, and full of crumbs, but it’s where joy and wonder often shine the brightest. In Mark 10, Jesus shows us how much He loves the kids’ table—and the children around it. When His disciples tried to shoo children away, thinking Jesus was too busy, He became angry. “Let them come,” He said, embracing them with open arms.
Christmas reminds us that Jesus came close to all of us—even as a baby Himself. He left His throne to meet us where we are, humbling Himself to bring salvation. Just as He welcomed children, He invites us to approach Him with childlike faith, wonder, and humility.
This season, let’s take a moment to reflect on what it means to “come to Jesus like a child.” Children trust deeply, depend fully, and find joy in the simplest things. Jesus says this kind of faith is the key to His kingdom. It’s not about what we achieve or how much we know—it’s about our willingness to depend on Him completely.
For parents and caregivers, this passage is a reminder of the privilege and responsibility we have to guide the children in our lives. Psalm 127:3 tells us, “Children are a heritage from the Lord.” Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or a mentor to someone younger, you’re shaping lives for eternity. Be encouraged—your love, prayers, and efforts make a difference.
Finally, remember that Jesus doesn’t just love children; He calls us all His children. Through His birth, death, and resurrection, He opened the door for us to become part of God’s family. Today, as you sit around your table, large or small, let’s come closer to the heart of Christmas by remembering that we’re all invited to Jesus’ table.
So, whether it’s the big table or the kids’ table, Jesus is there, ready to bless, love, and welcome each of us.
Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Thank You for coming close to us—leaving Heaven to be born as a baby, to live, and to die for us so we could know You. Help us to come to You with childlike faith, trusting You fully and finding joy in Your love. Bless our family today as we celebrate Your birth. Help us to love one another and see each person as precious in Your eyes. Thank You for inviting us all to Your table. In Your name, Amen.
