Prayer and Fasting

A Prayer and Fasting Journey to Easter
March 16th-April 3rd, 2026

Fasting is giving up what you want to tap into what you need. It is not forcing God into something but creating the conditions and the circumstances under which our souls can tune in His presence.

Here are some resources to help you as you journey through your nineteen days of prayer and fasting.

Types of Fasts

There are various forms of fasting. The best fast is the one decided on between you and God–He will honor your best sacrifice.

A full fast is the most intensive form of fasting, involving little to no food.

  • Water only
  • Water + electrolytes
  • Juice only
  • Bone broth & water
  • Black coffee & water
  • Sunrise to sunset
  • Alternate day fasting

A partial fast eliminates specific foods or meals.

  • No sugar
  • No meat on Fridays
  • No caffeine
  • No alcohol
  • Skip one meal (e.g., lunch only)
  • One meal a day (OMAD)
  • Intermittent fasting (16:8 window)
  • No eating after a certain hour
  • No specific food category (bread, dairy, processed food, etc.)
  • Phased/hybrid fast (start more intense, transition to partial)

Based on the biblical account of Daniel, this fast focuses on simple, plant-based eating as an act of consecration.

  • Fruits and vegetables only
  • Whole grains (rice, oats, barley, quinoa)
  • Legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas)
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Water and natural juices only
  • No meat or animal products
  • No sugar or sweeteners
  • No caffeine
  • No processed or fried foods
  • No bread made with yeast or leavening

If you’re not medically able, step away from screens and media to silence the noise of life and make room for the voice of God.

  • No social media
  • No television or streaming
  • No entertainment/gaming
  • Full digital detox (all non-essential screens)
  • Combination fast (pair any food fast with a digital fast for added focus)
